I bought Sonja’s cookbook after going to Raratonga and meeting her. I was really happy to find it still in print with a New Zealand provider. While we were in Raratonga, Sonja took us on a tour of her garden and told us the history of her once-famous garden and restaurant, where customers would queue up on the road and in her driveway to get a table. We bought some of her produce including her famous coconut bread. We adored the flowers that were all over the countryside and in gardens, and we often wondered what kind of flower it was. There are both descriptions as well as photos in Sonja’s Kitchen, which is a nice touch. We have already made several of the tasty dishes she spoke about in her book. We highly recommend Sonja’s Kitchen, especially to those who have been to Raratonga, as this amazing book brings everything together. And if you haven’t been there, you’ll definitely get a taste of Raratonga through the pages and the recipes.

Thank you Marion for your kind words! Sonja’s place in Aitutaki, Rarotonga is so special and I’m happy to hear you can relive those memories with the recipes in this book. The coconut bread is one oy my favourites too, so delicious! It’s easy to be inspired with such fresh produce and colourful flowers when you’re in Rarotonga. I hope you continue to create a taste of holiday at home! Best wishes, Tamarin
